What is Music Therapy?
MORE THAN JUST MUSIC.
“Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.” - American Music Therapy Association
Music is often the soundtrack to our lives. Songs can take us back to specific memories, elicit strong emotions, and serve as powerful reminders to us. But music therapy is so much more than that. It harnesses the power that music already has, to achieve specific goals for you or your loved one.
Music Therapy is the clinical & evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Music therapy interventions can address a variety of healthcare & educational goals:
Promote Wellness
Manage Stress
Alleviate Pain
Express Feelings
Enhance Memory
Improve Communication
Promote Physical Rehabilitation
These are just some of the many benefits of Music Therapy, and the field is continuing to evolve and find new ways to make an impact in people’s lives.
